Distractions are Hidden in Every Corner

In this modern world, distractions are hidden in every corner. Even with all the inspiration in the world from reading Tom Le Dree’s Blog distractions can easily pick apart your mind and hinder your work. Here are some tips to help avoid distractions from you working to your full potential.
Turn off the Mobile Phone
From the previous post about mobile phones, they can be very distracting, especially when you’re working. If someone calls you, you’ll lose your train of thought when you return to your work. If you’re a phone addict, just the presence of the phone can affect you. You want to check your text messages every second or see if you missed a call. That’s why you should turn it off when you work, and you can check your messages after.
Work in a Place to Your Preference
Although we love them, but friends and family can be a major distraction. Personally, I have a younger sister that always likes to come into my room. In fact, the very moment that I wrote that sentence, she knocked on my door. What a coincidence. That’s why I always like to lock my door when I work. However, everybody is different. Some people like to work in a loud environment. In that case, work where there’s a lot of activity going around where you are.
Don’t Multitask
When you’re doing your work don’t read the newspaper or read the featured articles on Digg. Focusing on too many jobs at one time will hinder your performance. If you work on a job one at a time, your work’s Quality will shoot up.
Take Breaks
Probably the biggest distraction one can have, is to have to fight off weariness or tiredness. If you find yourself in that situation take a short cat nap and return to your work. Also, if you work too much at one time, you should take a little break before returning to your work.
If you follow these steps to prevent distractions from getting to you, not only your work’s quality will go up but also your productivity.

Hi Tom
I believe that the mind is like a muscle in terms of focussing and you really have to work hard at getting your mind for long periods of time.
I’ve heard that the average person cannot focus fully for more than 5 minutes before being distracted.
Practise make perfect, so applying your tips, plus dissapline should really help.
Hope You’re Having a Fantastic Day!! (Sunshine!! WOO HOO!!)
