Getting the Most out of Quotes

So often I find really positive quotes that I can connect with. They really “Speak” to me on a personal level. The trouble is I read them and then they are gone. I often put some of my favourites quotes on here for you to all read. But even then I don’t go back and read them everyday.
I’m going to start surrounding myself with quotes that really touch me. This is so they have a greater impact on me and my life.
I’m sure like myself the quotes you love will change often as you move ahead with your life. Different ideas are more meaningful and appropriate at different times in our lives.
I have put together a list of how you can surround yourself and get the most out of quotes everyday.
1 - Write them on a piece of card and put them all over the place. On your mirror, your desk, the refrigerator door, your diary and so on.
2 - Make a colourful poster with your quotes on and hang it on the wall. Or you could buy a poster with inspirational quotes on it.
3 - Make your own bookmark and write your quotes on it.
4 - Make your own computer background wallpaper with an inspirational image and words. (Here is an example of a wallpaper I have made.)
5 - You could even post some quotes on your own blog or website!
Make sure when you see the quotes you stop and read them. Really think about them for a while and reflect on what they mean to you.
I hope this helps you get the most out of quotes. If you have any other ideas of how to get more out of quotes I’d love to hear from you. Why not send me a comment?
I will leave you today with this quote I read this morning.
“Ships in harbour are safe, but that’s not what ships are built for.” - John Shedd
I think this quote can apply to everyone. So many of us don’t do things because of fear. But taking the easy, safe route in life gets us nowhere. It’s not what we were built for. We were built for adventure. I encourage you to start sailing out into unknown waters and start building the life you want today! I know I am!

Hi Tom,
The wallpaper is a great idea. I have a friend who suffers from panic attacks and this has led to personal insecurities for them, and what I have done is compile inspirational quotes and then printed, laminated and then framed them along with smaller credit card size ones…..works pretty well.
Your blog is great and always worth visiting.
Inspirational Quotes are very empowering. What’s even more empowering is the story behind the quote.
When you see a quote that effects you, make it a study to learn about the person making the quote.
Generally you’ll find someone who overcame many obstacles to earn the right to make the quote.
But the most important thing is the hope the story provides. There are many stories of people who faced insurmountable odds to greatness. When we read these stories, it should provide us with hope and encouragement that our problems can be overcame as well.

That quote is great. Humans were designed to find their purpose, yet many are afraid to
Tom great post again!! I have a friend who has slips of paper with quotes sticking around all over his room back in school. He was the most upbeat and optimistic guy I have ever met in my life. This technique definitely works!
I’m glad you all like the post. If you have any quotes you would like to share feel free to post them.
Thanks Tom for suggestions how to get the most out of quotes.
Well, for me I love quotes so much that I had written a program that will randomly show quotes after certain time interval. I used to offer the program as shareware in the early 2000. Nevertheless, I had stopped updating the program.

I use quotes in my art! There are several examples in the fine art gallery of my web site and on my blogs. I have even painted my favs right on the wall or as part of a mural, and have one in the wallpaper of my desk top. One of my most favorite things to do with my collection is to create artist trading cards (ATC’s) with a collage, a quote, a small thumbnail sized photo, and a word related to the quote. The cards- 2.5 x 3.5 inches are then mounted on a beautifully printed blank notecard and packaged in sets of 4. They make great gifts, and I just got an order for 4 sets. My favorite quote is: “Life is a great big canvas, throw all the paint on it you can!” -Danny Kaye
Excellent post!
I LOVE quotes and you have given me inspiration to learn some new ones and to leave the shore!
Thanks!
Jen
