I once went 3 years without a mobile. My friends would curse me on a regular basis, but I was happy without one. One day, they bought me a mobile for my birthday. Though I screamed when I saw it, I had to use it and couldn’t through it away, since it was a birhtday present.
I NOW HAVE 2 PHONES!!
Thankfully, may hatred for them means that I don’t waste too much of my life attatched to it.

I just read an article that a lot of people that use cell phone too much can’t remember relatives’ birthdays or even their home phone number.

Hi Tom,

I know I can live without mine, that’s not a problem lol, but my teenage daughter……well, I think she would be certain that she had turned stone deaf and boy, can she text hahahaha. I think for many it has become not just an accessory but also a way of life, constantly in contact with someone. Makes you wonder how the business world survived before the advent of mobiles doesn’t it?

That sure is interesting. It’s a good point; many people rely heavily on technology. With out it they struggle to cope with simple things.

I do own a mobile but hardly ever use it. It sits indoors most the time and if people ask for my number I give them my landline one. Like Rednose my friends think I’m crazy… I think I would have to agree with them!

I once accidentally left my phone at home. It was like I’m craving for caffeine or something LOL (mind u, I don’t smoke…) Kept on thinking who’d text me, who’d called every 5 minutes. Can’t concentrate my work…geez!

Colin: It’s scary to think that a lot of people don’t remember the time before mobiles! It makes me feel old haha.

I am sure it would be tough to do. But I think it would be better to go without the phone as a conscious decision as opposed to just loosing it…it sure has affected my memory, I still can not remember Lizzie, my wifes number to save my life. I am sure it really annoys her as well.

But it does seem like we are in the age where we don’t need to remember phone numbers…it is sign of the times.
