Inspirational Song - Good Excuse

This is my current favourite song. The John Butler Trio are such a great band. Their music is really happy and positive and inspires me so much. In “Good Excuse” John Butler sings about opening your eyes to all the great stuff around you and all the things you have in your life right now. The message is simple but strong. Stop sitting there blaming old problems and regrets and start living your life.

I really got a good excuse to complain
My parents got divorced
Can’t heal the pain

And now there is only cheap regrets
I guess that’s just the way it be
Is it the world or how I see me

Go take a step outside see what’s shaking in the real world

He sings as if he is the one keeping his head in the sand to all the beauty around him. He then answers and gives advice of noticing your cup is not half full but over flowing.

Boy now you are really, really bugging
Yes you are bugging me,
Can’t you just shut right up
Your cup is overflowing, overflowing
And you think it is indeed

You don’t even know what side
You are fighting for
Boy won’t you turn your game boy off
Start pretending
It’s you against the world

I hope you enjoy the song and let it inspire you too! If you liked it then check out my post about another John butler Trio song “Zebra”

Don’t forget…

“Go take a step outside see what’s shaking in the real world”
