Feeling Blue? Cheer somebody else up!

August 19th, 2008
The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up.

~Mark Twain

I believe this quote is empowering and interesting. Like so many things in life it is about giving. Cheering up someone else instantly puts you in a different frame of mind. Rather than feeling sorry for yourself your focus changes onto the wants, needs and feelings of another person.

Cheering someone up doesn’t have to be that difficult. A simple card, a bunch of flowers or just telling them how you feel about them in often enough. Another good way is to try and distract them. Start talking about or doing something that will take their mind off of whatever it is that is making them unhappy.

I often find that when I’m feeling blue playing a game or reading a good book sends my mind off on a journey, away from any negative thoughts.

Why not try it today? When you see someone who could do with being cheered up give them some time and help them out.

Living life by the circular battery drainer on your wall

August 12th, 2008

Sometimes it’s so easy to be distracted from what you really should be doing. The lure of something more appealing grabs your attention. Or the phone rings and breaks your train of thought. This can be frustrating and sometimes these thoughts and ideas you had are forever lost. Your mind goes blanks and no matter how hard you try, you can’t recall the idea.

Life sometimes seems to be governed by the clock. But hours and minutes are man made. It’s just our way of measuring time. Living life by the circular battery drainer on your wall is a huge mistake made by many. Sure time is useful when arranging to meet someone but to eat, drink and live by the clock is just unnecessary.

I feel it’s so much better to simply go with the natural flow and respond to your body. Really get in tune with yourself, eat when your hungry, sleep when you’re tired and rest when you’re stressed. Not when the clock gives you permission.

Break away from the rigid constraint of the clock. Set yourself free. Get in touch with nature and your own bodies natural rhythms. Try it for a while, I’m sure you will start to enjoy the freedom and feel generally happier in your day to day life.

When Travelling Car Hire Is The Way To Go!

June 18th, 2008

It’s crazy how many people go on holiday and don’t bother with having transport to get around. It seems such a shame to wait all year, spend loads of money and then be stuck within walking distance of the hotel or apartment.

I have been on holiday a few times around Europe and we have always had a car. I remember for one holiday we drove all the way from England to Italy! It was a long drive, which took two days (we stopped off half way down). It was great though as we got to see so much of the French and Swiss countrysides.

Having a car was so worth it though! It meant we were free to drive around and visit loads of sights, which we wouldn’t have been able to see if we had not had the car. Some of the places the car allowed us to visit were Florence and the leaning tower of Pisa!

Sometimes when going on holiday, taking a car is not practical or even possible. For example if you were to fly to somewhere than using car hire would be your only option.

I knew a few of my friends have rented cars when they went away. They said that car hire in Spain was one of the best choices they made.

Having a car really does give you the freedom to make the most of your trip abroad. I can’t understand people who waste there holiday sitting by the hotel pool. Why don’t people get out and about and really embrace the local culture.

So next time your thinking of going away on your hols. I highly recommend that you rent a car. It really will make your holiday so much more enjoyable and the added freedom will allow you to really make the most of what is around you.
