Shortcuts in Life are Not Worth Taking

“Sometimes shortcuts are not worth taking. They may bring you quick
money but they do not make you become a better, stronger or more
skilful person.” - Anonymous
Computers are Shortcut Crazy
We always tend to be lazy and look out for ways to take shortcuts. Just take a look at how computer programs evolved and you will understand what I mean.
They started as command-line driven operating systems but they were not visually appealing and it took a while to find and load a program. So graphic user interface (GUI) was born and menu-driven programs became popular.
With lots of programs installed it then became complicated and difficult for people to find their desired programs. So putting a shortcut icon on the desktop made things simpler. Instead of having to drill down to the correct menu, which takes time, Context-Menu then came to the rescue.
Still being too difficult to know where to point and right-click, the latest Windows Vista has changed the start menu to a searchable menu where you just need to type a couple of letters to find and start a program.
Shortcuts, shortcuts and more shortcuts!.
Somehow shortcuts are required to find shortcuts and this became one of the best ways to get things more organized on a computer system. Well, it isn’t that bad except you have to spend more money upgrading to a brand new computer system every few years for the latest time saving shortcut menus.
Everything has a Price
Many people tend to look for shortcuts to happiness in their lives. But everything has a price! We pay the price for whatever decisions we make. Even if the price is not always in monetary terms. Those who resolve to stealing or robbing to make some quick cash eventually end up in jail or dead.
Those that gamble all their money will end up poor losing all their hard earn cash to the casinos and as a result a broken family. Then there are those that think getting a rich partner can promise them a good life. However, many end up not having a fulfilled life and living a life of misery.
Looking towards shortcuts can be very devastating. They can bring forth many problems in life. You should consider things carefully. Aim towards the long term. Put in the effort and build the amazing life you deserve!
“A firm foundation is built on growth, not rushing. Growth, whether plant growth, muscle growth, or mind growth is governed by the natural laws. It can’t be forced beyond previous preparation. Each day’s growth prepares for the next day’s growth. We can never break nature’s laws. Too often we break ourselves trying.”
What do you think? Do you agree?
