Top 5 Tips for Overcoming Blogger’s Block

1. Have a blogging schedule, and stick to it.

Make a habit of posting regularly, even if you don’t feel like it. Make a time for writing your post/post’s everyday. Try to commit to writing a set number of words a day. Even if it takes you a few days to write a good post it will be better than letting writers block stop you. Set a target of maybe 150 words every single day and commit to it.

2. Don’t beat yourself up about it

It happens to everyone who writes, just take a few deep breaths and go and do something fun for a while. Go get yourself inspired! Read some other blogs, listen to some music, watch something on YouTube… anything just let that light bulb in your head go Eureka!

3. Work on more than one post at a time.

Some people find it easier to write a few posts at once. There is no harm in having a few things on the go at once. When you get stuck move onto something else. You can then go back to it later.

4. Get away from the computer for a while.

Try something new… How many of you have written a blog post with a pen first? Try sitting outside on a nice day with a notebook and a pen. You might think it’s slower due to then having to type it all out but you will be surprised how much you get done with out the distractions of email, checking stats and all the other things I’m sure we are all guilty of wasting time with!

5. Write about something different.

Want a brake from writing on the same subject day after day? Why not get in contact with a few blog owners and offer to write for them. This will give you the chance to blog about something from a different niche. You never know, If someone likes your post and the way you write It might even send some traffic your way…

I Hope this has helped. If you have any advice feel free to comment!

excellent tips Tom!

I tend to work on 10 or so posts at a time LOL when thoughts come to me and it’s so true that it helps just to let it flow :)

Thanks for the positive feedback. It’s good to know I’m not the only one with multiple posts on the go at the same time!

Hi..how true what you wrote. We can do multiple posts and we may consider posting them up at different dates. We can write a whole lot at one time and plan to publish them progressively.

Cheers

Franco :-)

Good tips! I always have backup drafts to publish, but sometimes I just can’t even work with those!

I like the outside idea, I’ll have to try that! Thanks!

Good post. One of the things i need to work on is sticking with a schedule. I know by not doing so is lowering my productivity.

Great Tips! I might try writing from a coffee shop or in the park to switch up my environment for a change. That was a wonderful suggestion.
